Elmar was born in Stuttgart, Germany and that's where he earned his culinary chef certificate. He Immigrated to Canada in 1972 for work, first working briefly in Toronto before coming west to BC where he became a Canadian citizen in 1981.
He worked in various places including Prince George, Terrace and Kamloops, where he met his wife Lia, before moving to Terrace where they have resided for the last 40 years.
In his spare time, Elmar liked to fix machines & electronics, listen to music, read and do crosswords.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Cornelia (Lia), daughters Yvonne & Melanie, sister Wera (Brent) in Germany; and other family members including sister-in-law's Catherina Vandersman, Rose (Spiro) Gountas, brothers-in-laws Andy & Gerry Vandersman.
Elmar passed peacefully away in his sleep from complications due to cancer. We would like to thank all the medical staff who cared for him these past few years and friends for all their love and support.
