It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ellen Bentham. She died peacefully at the Seniors Village in Williams Lake, BC with family by her side.

She was the only daughter in a family of 9 children born in Trail, BC to Victor and Jeannie Corbett. She was predeceased by brothers Thomas, Levi, John, Jim, Gerald, and Ron. Along with brothers Allan and Maurice, Ellen is survived by her children Gord (Alanna), Doug (Janice), Jeannie (Bryan) and Donna as well as grandchildren Andrea (Jessy), Lindsey, Karina (James), Darren (Jen), and Jeremy, and 4 great-grandchildren.

Growing up in Nelson, BC, Ellen was known as Sis by all who knew her. She is a graduate of Vancouver General Hospital, class of 1953 starting her nursing career as an RN in Nelson.

She moved with her husband and family to Terrace in 1964 and continued her nursing career at Mills Memorial Hospital with many years as the Night Supervisor. Volunteering was an important part of her life, she was active in her nursing professional association during her career and upon her retirement became active in the Terrace Hospice Society as a volunteer and board member as well as many committees and groups at Knox United Church and the Skeena Fall Fair. Her love of music included volunteering at the Pacific Northwest Music Festival and with the Terrace Symphony.

Her love of travelling included many trips abroad with family and close friends. In 2008 she moved to Williams Lake to live with her daughters Jeannie and Donna.

A Celebration of Life will be held July 20th in Terrace at Knox United Church at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of BC or a charity of your choice.
