BENZER, Elizabeth

A mother, grandmother and great-grandmother – passed away at Kelowna General Hospital on April 8, 2006 at the age of 95 years. 

Liz was born in Diamond City, Alberta on October 22, 1910.  Her family moved a number of times, before settling in Armstrong, B.C.,  where Liz spent her school years.  She met Nick Benzer in 1928 and they were married in 1929, living in Kelowna until 1951, when they moved to Merritt, B.C.  Nick passed away in 1976 and Liz remained in Merritt until moving back  to Kelowna in August of 2005 to be closer to family.

Other than her husband, she was predeceased by: son, Raymond, (1935); grandson, Conrad (1989); brother, Ernie and sisters, Mary, Lena and Louise.  She is survived by: sons, Joe (Mabel) of Kamloops, Ernie (Kaye) of Kelowna, Bill (Sybil) of Terrace and Art (Gail) of Montrose; eleven grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren; ten nieces and nephews. 

Cremation interment will be in Merritt at a later date.
