February 26, 1948 - September 7, 2024
In loving memory ~
We are saddened by the passing of our dad on September 7 2024. Douglas McGregor Russell (Dougie) was born in Ottawa, Ontario February 26 1948.
He spent most of his summers at Boshkung Lake in Haliburton, Ontario at his grandmother's cottage when he was younger. Dad was accepted into University at 15. He travelled around in the late 60s for adventure and to catch all the music of that time to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Hawaii and other places. He moved to the west coast and worked on a fishing boat called "The Last Dollar". He went to Dawson City and Whitehorse working as a fishery officer & and also a gold mine.
In 1978 he started his painting company, taking a break after awhile to become a light house keeper on Egg Island with his family. Moved to Terrace in 1987 to continue his company branching out to Line Painting working all over B.C, Yukon and Alberta.
Dad was a loving father and hard worker, he was talented with artistic ability, great cook, builder, handyman and businessman.
He loved spending any chance he could at the ocean. He will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. Dad was a strong and determined man that fought his illness til the end.
