Dorothy Mae Derrick, 84, of Terrace, BC, died peacefully in her sleep on January 1st, 2017, at Mills Memorial Hospital. Born July 12th, 1932 in Breton, Alberta, she is predeceased by her parents, May Jorgenson and Gilman Docken of Alberta and her children, Sonya Sherry, John, Brian and Maida.

Dorothy was a strong, independent woman who worked for many years in the forestry industry. She became a foster parent later in life and provided a safe, welcoming home to over 140 children. She loved horses, motorcycles and dogs. She was an avid reader and was a life-long learner with an open mind, a ready laugh and a helping hand.

Survivors include her three daughters, Nedra, Heather (Robert) and Wanda (Claude), and 2 sons Ron and Len. Dorothy also leaves behind many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her beloved dog Katie and many friends near and far.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to her physician Dr. Strydom, and to the Nurses and support staff of Mills Memorial Hospital for their support in her final days.
