Donald Lorne Barker

In loving memory ~
Don was born in Calgary, Alberta on June 3, 1965 and spent his growing up years between Port Coquitlam, BC and Calgary, Alberta, where he first met Tarra.
In his late teens, Don also lived for a time in Georgetown, Ontario, and in his early twenties in Calgary, Alberta where he married Tarra in 1991. In 1996 a new work opportunity brought them to Kitimat, BC, and later in 2007 to Stewart, BC where their love for the people and beauty of the North established them. Don's love for outdoor adventure took him hiking the Rocky Mountains, dirt biking, canoeing, and cycling mountain paths.
Most of all, Don will be remembered for his deep love for God and His Word, and how he expressed that through his love for music, playing trumpet and guitar and daily demonstrating God's love to every heart he touched. Don's desire was that all would experience the love of God that strengthened and carried him his life long.
Don is survived by his loving wife, Tarra, the incredible family he loved including his Dad & Step-Mom, brothers, sister, many extended family members and also friends that were as close to him as his family. Tarra and the family thank the staff at the Stewart Health Centre (Stewart, BC), Mills Memorial Hospital (Terrace, BC) and the BC Cancer Centre for the North/Kordyban Lodge (Prince George, BC) for their kindness, support and exceptional care they each provided Don over these months.
Words cannot express our thanks to our incredible family and friends that supported and showered us with love during this time.
On April 22, 2023 at 11:30 am we will celebrate Don's life at the Al Lawrence Memorial Arena in Stewart, BC. Everyone is welcome to attend.
