On the evening of October 12, 2016 Dave passed away at Terrace Hospital, comforted by his daughter. Dave was 69 years old.

Dave was born in Kamloops on February 24, 1947. He was the 3rd child and first born son to Peter and Ruth Simmer.

Dave was a hard working man starting with C.N. at the young age of 16. He worked on the sections and gangs from Prince Rupert to Prince George for 49 years, retiring back in Terrace at 65.

Daves’ true passion in life was fishing for trout and salmon, always keeping a record of his catches. You could hear the joy in his voice when he talked about his amazing days of fishing on the Skeena River. His motto for his passion was “ I’d rather go fishing most any time, morning or evening, rain or shine. Just show me the tackle and give me some bait. Then watch me go fishing, the rest can wait.”

Dave is survived by his children Tetcha Simmer, Jody Boundy (Dan), Shelley Simmer, David Simmer and his grand children Darcie and Averie. His siblings Barbra, Charmaine, Peter, Kenny, Julie, Chris, Tina, and Elizebeth.

A special thank you to Norman, Dr. Elemuo, and the Nursing staff at Terrace Mills Memorial Hospital.

There will be no service held, by request.

In memory of Dave spend a day on the water.

Its never a waste of time.
