July 15, 1943 - November 8, 2024
In loving memory ~
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Clayton Lloyd-Jones, following a prolonged struggle with various health issues.
Clayton was born in Winnipeg on July 15, 1943, to Ethel and Llewellyn Lloyd-Jones. He was predeceased by his daughter Alesia Lloyd-Jones and his wife of 56 years, Judy Lloyd-Jones. He is survived by his twin brother, Glen Jones, (Doreen) his sister, Leanne Webber, (Bruce) his daughters, Stephanie Lloyd-Jones (Michael Johnson) Erica Lloyd-Jones, and six grandchildren who fondly called him "Grampy." He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, some of whom he shared his love of fishing with.
Clayton's journey took him far and wide. After earning a degree in Physical Education from the University of Victoria, he moved with his wife and Stephanie to Daylesford, Australia in 1972, where daughters Alesia and Erica were born. A year later, the family returned to Canada, where Clayton began his teaching career in Terrace. A dedicated educator, he was passionate about coaching, particularly girls' volleyball, track and field, and golf, shaping the lives of many young people.
In the summer months, Clayton was a familiar face at the Skeena Valley Golf Course, where he both worked and spent countless hours enjoying the game he loved. His other passions included building golf clubs, fly tying, fishing, reading, and travel. He loved globetrotting to such places as Arizona with golf buddies, Ireland and Hawaii with his daughters, and a very memorable trip to Japan with the girls volleyball team in 1982.
In later years, when his health no longer allowed him to enjoy the activities he once loved, Clay decided to try his hand at painting. Once he put his mind to something, he dedicated himself fully and though he was very humble about his art, friends and family agreed that his paintings were quite impressive. We're all very grateful to have some Grampy art in our home.
"Blue skies, tight lines, and fish a-jumpin', with tackle box closed and the final line cast we bid farewell.
Thank you to all the wonderful caring staff at Mills Memorial who made Clays final days as comfortable as possible.
A celebration of life will be arranged at a later date.
