IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Christiaan Troelstra

March 4, 1913 - December 30, 2006

Chris was born in the Netherlands and immigrated to Terrace in 1954. In 1955 he opened a shoe repair business and worked there until his retirement in 1978. He was a resident of Terraceview Lodge since 2001. Funeral services were held on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at the Terrace Christian Reformed Church.

Chris is survived by Ali, his wife of 59 years, his daughters Berta (Martin) den Haan, Anka (Terry) Manders, Audrey Walsh, Cheryl (Wayne) Wyatt, and Elizabeth (John) Van Dyk, one son, Pete (Irene) Troelstra, 19 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and two brothers. He was predeceased by three sisters, one brother, and an infant son.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Terraceview Lodge for the exceptional care they provided, the volunteer caregivers who assisted with meals, Pastor Joel Ringma and the Christian Reformed Church, and the many friends and family who have provided love and support over the last 5 years.

Chris was a kind, gentle, peaceful man, devoted to his family, especially his wife. He will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall lack nothing.

He makes me lie down in green pastures,

He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul.

He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

I will fear no evil, for you are with me;

your rod and your staff they comfort me.

You prepare a table for me in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

- Psalm 23
