Charles Joseph Lessard July 28,1935 - October 5, 2004
The death of Charles Joseph Lessard, aged 69 years, a long time resident of Terrace, BC. occurred in Mills Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, October 5, 2004. Charles fought a valiant battle with diabetes for 41 years.
Charles was predeceased by his parents, Elward and Ethel Lessard, grandparents, Joseph and Della Lessard, Edmond (uncle) Lessard, Rita (aunt) Lessard.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife Monica of 44 years, daughter Donna Emery (Stephen) Terrace BC, two sons Leslie (Debbie) Terrace BC, Kevin (Kelly) Salmon Arm, BC, seven grandchildren, Aaron, Janelle, Hayley Lessard, Briana, Marlee, Lynette Melissa Emery, a sister Ann (Don) Slonetzky, Regina, Sask., a brother George (Joan) Sydney, B.C. and many other relatives to mourn his loss.
Charles was born July 28, 1935 in the town of Imperial, Sask, where he completed his education. In 1958, Charles went to work for the Ministry of Highways in Sask. In 1960 he married Monica (Metz) and they moved to Terrace where he continued working for the highways. He was employed with the Ministry of Highways for 35 years until his retirement. Charles was an avid curler from a young age and enjoyed baseball and hockey. He continued to curl until his health deteriorated. He was a member of the Terrace Kinsmen Club and enjoyed many outdoor activities.
Charles greatest pleasure came from his children, grandchildren, friends and neighbors. He was a very generous and giving man. Charles was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Dr. DuToit, Dr. Chkipov, nurse Heather Austin for all the years of attending Charles, and all the wonderful staff at Mills Memorial Hospital for their care and attention to Charles during his brief stay.
Cremation took place at MacKay’s Funeral Home. A private family memorial will take place in the spring.
