In Loving Memory ~
Cal was born in the Red Cross Hospital in Terrace on July 10, 1957 and died in the Kelowna Hospital on November 9, 2021. He lived in Terrace and Lakelse Lake, attending school at Cassie Hall, Thornhill Elementary, Skeena and Caledonia and then moved with the family to the Stikine River where he continued schooling by correspondence.
In 1976 he moved to Lethbridge where he began an Aircraft Maintenance Engineering apprenticeship with Time Air. The program was discontinued after a year so he moved back to Terrace where he met the love of his life, Cathy Maroney, and worked in sawmills in the region and in Watson Lake, Yukon.
A hang-gliding accident in 1984 put Cal in hospital in Vancouver for several weeks with a broken back so, because he was in a body cast and unable to do physical work for some time, he and Cathy moved to Dease Lake where they took over management of the Northway Motor Inn.
From there they moved to Dawson Creek where Cal completed the AME course and then to Prince Rupert where he worked for Trans Provincial Airlines until they closed down. Their last move was to Kelowna where he continued to work for helicopter companies and upgrade his training so he became qualified on many types of aircraft. His work took him to many places from the Arctic to Chile to Africa and to places all over North America.
Cal had many hobbies including painting, model trains and planes, scuba diving and carpentry. He and Cathy loved motorcycles and they were able to take a few trips on their Honda Gold Wing before she died in 2014. His most recent acquisition was a 1929 Ford Model A which he loved showing off at car shows and just driving around the country visiting friends and relatives!
Cal was predeceased by his father, A. E. "Slim" Jordan, his brother, Gerry and his wife, Cathy.
He is survived by his mother Verna Jordan, his sister Kathy (Gary) Young, his sister-in-law Claudia, many nephews and nieces and extended family and friends.
A graveside service was held on November 19 and Cal was laid to rest with Cathy.
