Ali (Alice) was born February 21, 1925 in the Netherlands. She met the love of her life, Christiaan Troelstra, during World War II and they were married in November, 1947. In 1954, Ali and Chris and three daughters immigrated to Terrace where the family grew to include two sons (one died shortly after birth) and two more daughters. Ali loved her family and took her roles as wife, mother and homemaker seriously. She was a pioneer member of the Terrace Christian Reformed church, singing in the choir and serving in many areas of hospitality. She was also an active member of the Happy Gang Centre where she took a lead role in carpet bowling.

In her later years, Ali was a resident of McConnell Estates (2006 to 2013) and of Terraceview Lodge (2013 to 2016). Ali died peacefully on June 15, 2016. Funeral services were held on Monday, June 20, 2016 at the Terrace Christian Reformed Church.

Ali is survived by her children Berta (Martin) den Haan, Anka (Terry) Manders, Audrey (Pearse) Walsh, Cheryl (Wayne) Wyatt, Peter (Irene) Troelstra, and Elizabeth (John) Van Dyk, 19 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Christiaan (Chris) and an infant son.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staffs of McConnell Estates and Terraceview Lodge for the exceptional care they provided, Pastor Joel Ringma, the Christian Reformed Church, and the many friends and family who have provided love and support over the years.

Ali was a caring, hospitable, fun-loving woman who confessed that her trust was in God. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be missed.
