The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 96 calls for service from May 31, 8 AM till June 3, 8 AM. During the same time period there were 18 people lodged in Terrace Cells. Seven of these people were lodged for public intoxication.
Here are some of the calls responded to:
- Couple engaged in an indecent public exposure of primal urges on Kalum St near the tennis courts. Police attendance confirmed same. A 21 yr old man and a 16 yr old girl were spoken with.
- Man passed out at the Ministry of Housing and Social Development on Eby St. Police woke up a 49 yr old man who was waiting for his cheque. An employee was withholding the cheque till the man was sober. Police spoke with the man. He was relatively sober. He received his cheque and left on his own accord.
- Ongoing neighborhood dispute on Laurel St. Oil was put on a gravel portion of a road. A woman yelled at a woman. Numerous complaints back and forth. Police spoke with the people involved.
- A lock was punched in of a 2006 Pontiac Wave parked on Park Ave sometime during the night of May 30/31. Access was not gained into the vehicle. Police observed a satellite radio highly visible on the front windshield and gave advice to the vehicle owner about removing valuable items from the vehicle or out of sight to deter such criminal acts in the future.
- Loss Prevention Officer of Save On Foods arrested a 20 yr old woman for shoplifting a sandwich. The woman claimed to be hungry and had no money. Investigation determined that the woman was lying. A store ban was issued to the woman.
- Police observed a woman known to police walking north on Sparks St. Checks determined that the woman had an outstanding Kitimat warrant for her arrest for failing to attend court. This was the fourth time Terrace RCMP have executed a warrant for failing to comply with a probation order on this woman. She is held for court.
- A blue 1992 Toyota van collided with a moose on Hwy 16 west of Terrace. The moose died. Police requested the assistance of Conservation Officers with the orphaned calf. The driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries. The vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed.
- Police observed a 14 year old boy out past his court ordered curfew at McDonald’s. Police arrested the boy. Charge of Breach of Recognizance are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
- Two intoxicated men jumping into traffic and onto vehicles driving on Lakelse Ave. Police arrested two men ages 22 and 20 yrs. The 22 yr old man fought with police.
- A man kicking at the door of an apartment on Little Ave. Police arrested a 33 yr old man. He was in breach of probation condition of not to consume alcohol. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
- Two calls received of a loud party on Park Ave/Munroe St. Police issued a noise bylaw ticket.
- Police pulled over a black Dodge truck on Kalum St/Feeney Ave. The licence plate was stolen. The truck did not have insurance and had numerous motor vehicle defects. The truck was towed.
- Assault investigation. Two men were together in Terrace cells. When released they went and purchased more booze to drink together. An intoxicated fight ensued and one of the men had to be treated at Mills Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Ongoing investigation.
- A man trying to light a fire in the back of Brolley Square. Police spoke with a 49 year old man who denied lighting the fire and was sent on his way. Police extinguished the small fire then gathered up the garbage and other fuel sources in the area to prevent the incident from recurring.
- A man and woman were soliciting homes for empty bottles and cans. A woman from a residence on Straume Ave gave them some empties then left the man and woman unattended in her residence while she went to the basement to gather more. Later in the evening she discovered that money and medication had been stolen. The man is described as chubby, black hair, 30 to 40 yrs of age, medium height, wearing a baseball cap and dirty clothes. The woman was wearing a blue sweater and jeans, 30 to 40 yrs old, long black hair, 5 ft 6 inches, and big boned.
- Dog bite at Ferry Island. A child suffered injuries and the dog owner was not cooperative.
- A green car displaying an N being driven in an erratic manner on Queensway Dr. Shortly after this call a second a call was received that a green car was involved in a two vehicle collision on Queensway Dr. A green 1997 Toyota Tercel lost control and smashed into a blue 1996 Ford pickup truck. The truck ended up on its roof. The 19 yr old driver and two of the three passengers in the Toyota were transported to Mills Memorial Hospital for treatment of minor injuries received. Ongoing investigation.
- Police pulled over a white GMC truck with a canopy on Thornhill Frontage Rd/Paquette Ave. The 23 yr old driver failed to provide a sample of breath. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
- A white truck being driven in an erratic manner on Scott Ave. Police pulled over a white 2012 Dodge Ram truck at West Kalum Forest Service Road at the Valard Site. Checks determined that the 43 yr old driver did not have a valid driver’s licence and that there was an outstanding New Hazelton warrant for his arrest. The driver provided a sample of breath that was more than three times the legal limit. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. He is held for court.
- Missing 17 yr old boy.
- Deceased 36 yr old man at a residence on Queensway Dr. Foul play is not suspected.
- A man in breach his undertaking conditions of no go and no contact. Police arrested the 21 yr old man at the Mills Memorial Hospital. At the detachment the man smashed a police officer’s head into a glass window causing minor injury. Charges of breach x 2 and assault peace officer are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The man is held for court.
