Several Coast Mountain School District 82 (CMSD82) schools are set to receive infrastructure improvements such as ventilation system upgrades, thanks to more than $1 million in provincial funding.

In total, the Government of B.C. is spending over $250 million for 2022/23 maintenance projects, with over $1.3 million of that fund earmarked for CMSD82.

“Investments in schools are investments in student success, and we are putting more resources into buses, classrooms, and schools so students can thrive,” Jennifer Whiteside, minister of education said in a media release.

Kitimat City High and Suwikaawks Community School will be receiving improvements to heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Roofing upgrades are coming to Kildala Elementary in Kitimat and Thornhill Primary schools, and the NW Regional Trades & Training Centre will be the beneficiary of electrical systems upgrades.
