Brothers Gabriel and Oliver Ungehojer travelled to Kamloops two weekends ago to represent the Terrace Bluebacks Swim Club at the Swim BC Northern and Interior Championships and performed to the point that as a team they placed tenth among entrants from northern B.C. and the Okanagan.

The brothers combined to swim in seven finals with Oliver, 15, finishing seventh and eighth respectively in the 50 and 200 breaststrokes.

Gabe, 13, reached the finals in five of his eight events, coming in eighth in both the 50 backstroke and 100 backstroke. He came fifth in the 400 IM, fourth in the 100 backstroke and won the bronze medal in the 200 backstroke.

Gabe reached three new time standards — a Swim Alberta Provincial Championship qualifying time in both his 50 and 100 backstrokes and a new ManSask Provincial Championship qualifying time in his 200 individual medley.

The Bluebacks team is next on the road to Smithers for the fourth regional meet of the season.

Gabe and Kelly Choi will then be travelling to Edmonton to compete in the Swim Alberta Provincial Championships.
