Man sentenced Valentine's Day in domestic violence case

GUILTY PLEAS ended a domestic violence trial in provincial court on Valentine’s Day.

Chad Koren Adams, 42, pleaded guilty to two charges of assault, and one charge of uttering threats in Kincolith and was sentenced to 180 days in jail with 18 months of probation to follow. After he was credited with the time he spent in jail awaiting trial, 44 days, he was left with 136 days of jail time. Pleading guilty to six breaches of his probation, also in Kincolith, led to a 90 day jail sentence to run concurrently.

On July 19, 2012, Adams committed assault and breached one of his probation conditions, and during the month of November 2012, he committed a second assault, uttered threats and breached his conditions five times.

His probation conditions will include not having contact directly or indirectly with the victim and not being within 100m of the victim’s residence or workplace and not being within 3km of Kincolith unless he has written permission.
