THIS TRACTOR-trailer unit tipped over when the driver tried to make a turn off Krumm Rd. onto the road across from Creek St. in Thornhill earlier today.

A TRUCK driver escaped injury after his tractor-trailer unit turned over on a soft shoulder while he was trying to make a left hand turn in Thornhill around lunchtime today.

The vehicle laid on its passenger side on the south side of Krumm Rd. just before Creek St. and reports said that oil was leaking out of it and down the hill, resulting in environmental cleanup crews being called in to stop it.

People at the scene said the driver, who was travelling east, got over to the right side of the road to make a wide left turn onto a road when the soft shoulder gave way and the truck tipped and was damaged.

The load of bales, weighing hundreds of pounds each, was still strapped onto the truck tightly.

Witnesses said the driver wasn't hurt but was shaken up by the accident.

An ambulance was called to the accident scene.
