The City of Terrace is about to start looking for a new city manager following the resignation of Kris Boland.
Boland, who began work in January 2021 as the city’s top administrative officer, submitted his resignation last week and is leaving as of June 16.
Boland gave personal reasons for his decision.
“City staff and officials will be meeting in the coming weeks to determine next steps in finding a replacement,” said city communications official Tyler Clarke.
Boland moved over to the city from an assistant chief administrator officer slot at the Kitimat-Stikine regional district where he also handled the administrative duties for the Northwest B.C. Resource Benefits Alliance, the coaltion of northwestern local governments lobbying the province for a share of resource taxation revenues.
Boland has credited Ron Poole, a former City of Terrace chief administrative officer, with luring him north.
They met when Boland was chief financial officer for the District of Mission in the Fraser Valley and Poole was Mission’s chief administrative officer.
When Poole returned north to be the Kitimat-Stikine regional district’s chief administrative officer, he persuaded Boland to join the regional district as its deputy chief administrative officer in 2018.
