Thousands of dollars of tools stolen from construction business

This is just one of the calls Terrace, B.C. RCMP responded to over the weekend

The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 166 calls for service from June 14, 8 a.m. till June 18th, 8 a.m. During the same time period there were 15 people lodged in Terrace Cells. 13 of these people were lodged for public intoxication.

Here are some of the calls responded to:

  • A blue 2000 Ford F-150 was checked in a roadblock on Queensway Dr. The 37 yr old driver was suspended. Charges of driving while suspended are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The vehicle she was driving was impounded.
  • Airport security seized a set of brass knuckles that were being used as a belt buckle at the Terrace Airport from a 37 yr old man.
  • On June 14 at 4 PM a red 2001 Volkswagen Golf and a blue 1992 Subaru Loyale were involved in a motor vehicle collision on Thomas St/Olson Ave. The 45 yr old diver of the Volkswagen was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital by BC Ambulance for treatment of injuries received.
  • A blue 2012 Chevrolet Cruz was pulled over on Hwy 37 south of the Terrace Airport for going 146 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. The 23 yr old driver was dealt with for excessive speed and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
  • A white 1994 Dodge Caravan was checked in a roadblock on Queensway Dr. The 26 yr old driver refused to provide a sample of breath into a roadside screening device. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
  • A grey 1997 Ford truck was checked in a roadblock on Queensway Dr. The 27 yr old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device which resulted in a fail. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
  • A white 2001 GMC truck was checked in a roadblock on Queensway Dr. The 16 yr old driver did not have a driver’s license and had a notice to serve a Prohibition. The driver was served with this notice.
  • Police pulled over a grey 2003 Honda Civic. The 27 yr old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fails. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded. An amount of marihuana and drug paraphernalia were seized from the vehicle.
  • A blue 2006 Chrysler PT Cruiser was checked in a roadblock on Queensway Dr. The 46 yr old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a fail. He was served an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.
  • Police attempted to pull over a red 2013 Ford Focus on Molitor St. The vehicle fled from police at a high rate of speed. Police located the vehicle in a driveway in the 4800 block of Haugland Ave. It had hit a power pole and crashed into a hedge when it failed to make the turn from Molitor St east onto Haugland Ave. The driver fled from the scene. Two women that remained in the vehicle were treated for injuries at the scene. Investigation led to the arrest of a 28 yr old man.
  • A mountain bike with a combustion engine was pulled over on Sparks St. Police advised the operator that it is illegal to operate a bicycle with this type of engine. Police detected the smell of marihuana. An amount of marihuana was seized.
  • A carved wooden welcome sign was stolen from the Soaring Spirit Youth Camp sometime between noon and 2 PM on June 8th.
  • The Source reported that a man attempted to have an IPhone activated and it was determined to be stolen. The man purchased the phone from a woman on Facebook. She went by the name Monique and is described as short, heavy, wearing at track suit and had long hair.
  • Airport Security seized a spring assisted knife from a 35 yr old man.
  • The Farmer’s Market sign was stolen from Park Ave/Kalum St.
  • Domestic assault. A 31 yr old woman was arrested for assault. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • A bag of cocaine was found lying in the hallway of an apartment building on Pear St.
  • A grey 2008 Toyota Yaris was checked on Hwy 16 in the 4500 block. The 21 yr old driver was issued a driving suspension.
  • Police observed a 21 yr old woman known to be prohibited from driving travelling east on Hwy 16 driving a silver 2001 Mazda Protégé. The woman was arrested for driving while prohibited. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The vehicle she was driving was impounded.
  • An amount of tools in the thousands of dollars was stolen from a construction business on Whitebottom Rd sometime over the weekend, possibly on Sunday.
