A LOCAL resident was killed in an accident yesterday outside Williams Lake when the truck he was travelling in was hit by a semi-tractor trailer.
Louis George Therrien, 36, had to be removed by the Jaws of Life from the pickup truck in which he was a passenger and later died after being taken to Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, said Williams Lake RCMP today.
At about 7:30 a.m. Jan. 26, a northbound semi-tractor trailer unit crossed the centre line of Hwy 97 north of Williams Lake and crashed head-on into a southbound Dodge pickup truck, said police.
Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in this incident, said police.
All the other people involved had minor or no injuries, police added.
The regional coroner and police continue to investigate.
