Terrace mayor won't run again in this fall's election

Announcement released today reveals that it took a long time for Dave Pernarowski to make the decision

Terrace mayor Dave Pernarowski has announced he will not be running again for the position in this November's local government elections.

In a statement released this morning to local media Pernarowski said the decision was made after much deliberation.

“After careful consideration and consultation with my family I have decided to announce today that I will not put my name forward as a Mayor candidate in the November 2014 municipal election,” said the mayor.

The announcement ends months of speculation as to whether he would run again.

Further details regarding how he made the decision are forthcoming, said Pernarowski.

“I know that in the days, weeks, and months ahead, I will have many opportunities to talk about the great honour it has been to represent this community over the past six years as your mayor.”

Pernarowski was first elected to Terrace city council in 2007 via a by-election to fill a vacancy for one year after long time city councillor Rich McDaniel passed away.

He went on to defeat long serving mayor Jack Talstra in the 2008 local government elections and was re-elected in 2011.
