A two-year-long drug case has come to an end with a jail sentence for a local man.
Philip Christopher Roy Wood was sentenced to 135 days in jail, a mandatory lifetime firearms prohibition and to forfeit items seized by police after pleading guilty to on charges of possession of marijuana for the purpose of trafficking and possession of firearm contrary to order in provincial court here June 24.
He must also provide a DNA sample to police.
A charge of knowingly possessing a prohibited weapon without a licence was stayed by the court.
On April 5, 2012, Terrace RCMP executed a search warrant in the 3500 block of Hanson St., said police at that time.
Officers seized monies, an amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, scales, and a stun gun, said police.
Two residents, a 30-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman, were arrested in the home, said police.
While executing the search warrant, a man went to the residence, walked past a marked police car and attempted to make a purchase from the uniformed RCMP officer at the door, said police.
“When the man realized he was face to face with a police officer, he left rather sheepishly," said Terrace RCMP Cpl. Mike Dame at that time.
