Terrace council issued a development permit for a 21 unit townhouse complex at 4808 Lazelle Ave. during its Feb. 28 meeting.

Owned by Panagiotis and Milagros Sainis, the lot is currently in the process of being sold to Vanhome Construction, which would oversee the market rental housing development located across the street from the Terrace Bowling Lanes.

“It’s exciting to see more housing close to the downtown area, it’s great,” Coun. Sean Bujtas said at the meeting.

When completed, the development will consist of four buildings and will have access from both Lazelle Ave. and Park Ave. According to the landscaping plan created by Pacific West Architecture, each unit will be 1,180 square feet with three bedrooms.Units will have a private backyard with a small concrete patio, and there will be two common spaces, with one including a children’s play structure.

The plan includes 34 parking stalls, with seven of those designated as visitor spaces.

As a condition of the development permit, the developer has agreed to pay nearly $50,000 to the city to contribute to the costs of upgrades to Park Ave., which includes a new storm main and expansion of the road into a 10 metre collector roadway with a curb, gutter and 1.8 metre concrete sidewalk.
