Terrace Skating Club cheered on eight figure skaters who made the journey to Williams Lake for the Cariboo North Central Regional Championships Jan. 20 to 22.

The Terrace skaters won eight medals over the weekend. Joanne Bartlett, director of skating at the club, said she’s proud of the team’s performance after a lot of hard work and practice.

The annual CNC Regionals competition includes skaters from Prince Rupert to Fort St. John and Williams Lake. It’s a chance for northern skaters to meet and compete with skaters from other clubs.

This is the first year since 2020, before Covid, that the region has held the championships in person. It was also the first competition in the north since Covid to have in-person judges.

Over the past year-and-a-half skaters have competed in person, but the judging was done virtually.

Aaliyah Beeton won two silver medals and one gold medal.

Teysean Henry won two bronze medals and one silver medal.

Hannah Thomson won one silver medal and one gold medal.
