Swimmers post good times at Prince George meet

Local swimmers competed well when the Terrace Bluebacks Swim Club travelled to Prince George for the Nov. 18 to Nov. 20 Mr. Lube Invitational tournament.

The club placed fourth out of seven clubs with 619 points at the event.

Host Prince George was first with 4,036 points followed by Prince Rupert at 3,197 points and Williams Lake in third with 2,298 points.

Following Terrace was Smithers with 466 points, Quesnel with 164 points and Kitimat with 129 points.

Below in alphabetical order are individual Bluebacks results. The numbers in brackets are the ages of the swimmers.

Georgia Bergstreiser (16)

- Best finish was 6th in the 50 backstroke

Kelly Choi (12)

- Won the gold aggregate (cumulative points scored) in the 11-12 girls age group.

She did it by winning all eight of her individual events

- Also won the 12 & under “Sprint Eliminator”

Caleb Harris (12)

- Best finish was 13th in the 50 backstroke

Nevaeh Mumford (14)

- Best finish was 4th in the 100 backstroke

- Achieved her first ever ManSask “A” qualifying time (that is the Manitoba-Saskatchewan Junior Provincial qualifying time) with a time of 34.04 in the 50 freestyle

Gabriel Ungehojer (13)

- Came second in the 50 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. Finished third in the 50 back, 100 breast, 200 back, 50 free and 200 breast

- Achieved new ManSask “AA” time (Manitoba-Saskatchewan Senior Provincial qualifying times)

in the 50 breaststroke (38.66), 50 freestyle (30.36) and 100 backstroke (1:14.06). Also achieved a

pair of new Swim BC Northern & Interior Divisional qualifying times in the 100 breaststroke

(1:25.48) and 200 breaststroke (3:06.11)

Oliver Ungehojer (15)

- Won the 100 & 200 breaststrokes. Came second in the 50 breaststroke. Finished third in the 200 free, 200 IM and 50 free

- Achieved a new divisional qualifying time in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 37.11
