Suspected shoplifter kicks store employee in the head

The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 116 calls for service from April 11, 8 AM till April 15, 8 AM.

The Terrace RCMP have responded to approximately 116 calls for service from April 11, 8 AM till April 15, 8 AM. During the same time period there were 27 people lodged in Terrace cells. Twelve of these people were lodged for public intoxication.

Here are some of the calls responded to:

A black BMX bike with green graphics was stolen from Mills Memorial Hospital at approximately 5 AM on April 11.

A 38 yr old man was riding his bike on Kalum/Greig when he was passed by a blue van. This van threw a significant amount of dust and gravel at him causing him to crash his bike. The man suffered an injury that had to be surgically repaired.

On April 11 a motor vehicle collision between a 2007 blue Mazda truck crossing Lakelse from the McDonald's parking lot to the Skeena Mall parking lot and a grey 2011 Infiniti sedan travelling east on Lakelse Ave. No injuries and minor damage to the vehicles.

On April 11 a motor vehicle collision between a red 2002 Jeep pulling out of a parking lot onto Lazelle Ave and a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria travelling westbound on Lazelle Ave. No injuries and minor damage to both vehicles.

Ongoing issues of ATVs ripping around Skeena Concrete Products on Old Lakelse Lake Dr.

Five boys ages 17, 16, 17, 17, and 16 yrs of age were observed loitering in the skate park on Kalum St on April 11 at 10:30 PM. Police suspected the boys may be involved in graffiti vandalism that has been going on. Upon approaching the boys the smell of marihuana was detected. Police checked the boys and their belongings.

Police checked a white 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier on Keith Ave/Park Ave. The 20 yr old driver did not have a driver's licence and had a notice to service a driving prohibition. Police issued a driving prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A white pickup truck travelling east bound on Hwy 16 attempted to pass a logging truck near the Zymacord bridge on a double solid line and into oncoming traffic. Police have spoken with the registered owner of the truck and the company is going to follow up with the driver.

Domestic assault. A woman suffered minor injuries. A 38 yr old man was arrested for assault. Charge of assault is being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A woman was caught shoplifting at Save On Foods. She became violent with the arresting person. Police located the 35 yr old woman walking away from security personal in the Skeena Mall and arrested her for theft. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A purple wallet containing various cards and ID was left behind in a taxi cab on April 12.

A newer burgundy pickup truck with a lift kit, possibly a Ford, struck a dog on the 2400 block of Thornhill St and failed to stop. The dog suffered minor injuries.

A man has been fraudulently using a business account at a local business to make purchases. The man has been using a false name to do this. Under investigation.

Suspicious circumstances surrounding a medical emergency on Kofoed Dr. The Terrace Forensic Identification Unit assisted with the investigation. A 78 yr old man was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital. Under investigation.

Three men checking out vehicles up and down Lakelse Ave. Police located four men matching the descriptions provided. Two men ages 46 and 35 yrs were arrested for public intoxication.

A woman was sleeping on her couch and woke up to find a man inside of her residence on Kleanza Dr. She managed to get the man out. Police located an intoxicated 21 yr old man matching the description walking along Hwy 16 and arrested him for public intoxication.

Group of intoxicated people causing a disturbance and smashing bottles on Dairy Ave. Police located a 24 yr old woman and three men ages 22, 19, and 19 yrs. Alcohol was dumped.

Police checked a silver 2006 Dodge Ram truck in the parking lot by the pool. The 34 yr old driver failed a roadside screening device. He was issued a driving prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

Break and Enter to The Brick on April 13 at 4 AM. The entry glass door was smashed. A flat screen television was stolen. The suspect appeared to be about 6 ft tall, 200 lbs, Caucasian man, wearing a dark hoody pulled over his head and dark pants.

Numerous thefts from vehicles parked in the 4800 block of Hamer Ave during the night of April 12/13.

A 27 yr old man attended to the detachment to provide his fingerprints. Police noted that he was intoxicated on suspected numerous substances. From conversation with the man police made the decision to apprehend him under the Mental Health Act and transported him to Mills Memorial Hospital to be assessed.

Fight in front of the Safeway on April 13 at 2 PM. Police arrested three intoxicated men ages 20, 21, and 31 yrs of age.

Manager of Safeway arrested a woman for shoplifting. The woman was yelling and kicking at the manager. Police arrested the 24 yr old woman for theft. She also had an outstanding warrant out of Kitimat for her arrest. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

An employee of Safeway arrested a man for shoplifting on April 13 at 4 PM. The man kicked the employee in the head twice. A witness retrieved the manager from inside of the store to assist in restraining the man. Police arrested the 54 yr old man for theft and assault. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Deceased 55 yr old woman on Halliwell Ave.

A grey 2008 Pontiac G6 ignored the red light on the Old Bridge and collided head on with a 2004 Dodge Caravan. The passenger of the Dodge suffered minor injuries. The vehicles were extensively damaged. Police arrested the 33 yr old driver of the Pontiac for operating a motor vehicle while impaired. She refused to provide a breath sample. She did not have a driver's license. She was belligerent and was kicking and spitting in the back of the police car. Tracy Gadwa has been charged with Impaired Care and Control and Refuse Breath Sample and has been remanded to appear in court on April 15.

Missing 22 yr old woman.

Police responded to an abandoned 911 call on Hwy 16 East. A 79 yr old woman is deceased.

A 3 yr old girl with a small dog by herself on Kalum St. Police found the girl and at the same time a family member had attended as well.

Employees of Safeway arrested a 37 yr old man for shoplifting. He resisted arrest and had to be restrained on the ground. Police arrested the intoxicated man. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A 24 yr old man driving a blue 2005 Chrysler 300 was pulled over for going 144 km/hr in a 100 km/hr zone. The man and his 23 older passenger were arrested for possession of drugs when police smelt marihuana. An amount of marihuana and drug paraphernalia were seized.

Fight outside of a residence on Ecstall Ave. Police were at the residence when a woman parked a grey 2003 Ford Escape across the street then exited and approached the officers. The woman was intoxicated and belligerent. She refused to cooperate with police and attempted to punch one of the officers. The 51 yr old woman was arrested for assault peace officer. She refused to provide a breath sample. She was issued a driving prohibition and the Ford was impounded.

A man stole a bottle of liquor from the Skeena Liquor Store. Police observed video surveillance and identified the 42 yr old man. Under investigation.
