Schools get playground grants

Most schools are receiving $50,000 for new equipment

A NUMBER of northern schools are in line for either $50,000 or $25,000 provincial grants for new playgrounds.

The grants conclude a two-year program in which $8 million was provided.

Kitwanga Elementary in Kitwanga is to get $50,000, Denetia Elementary School in the Stikine school district is also getting $50,000 while Tahltan school is getting $25,000.

In the Nass Valley, Alvin A McKay Elementary in Greenville and Nathan Barton Elementary in Kincolith are each to get $50,000.

Sk'aadgaa Naay Elementary on Haida Gwaii is to get $50,000 as is Port Edward Elementary at Port Edward.

Last year in Terrace Skeena Junior Secondary (which is to be renamed Skeena Middle School) received $50,000 for a new playground.
