School administrators to change in fall

Terrace and Thornhill principals and vice-principals are being shuffled around to head up different schools this fall.

Coast Mountains School District superintendent Nancy Wells announced some new administrative appointments for local schools during the June 8 school board meeting.

Phillip Barron from Thornhill Junior Secondary school will be taking over as the new principal of Skeena Junior Secondary school.

Joining Barron at Skeena as vice-principal will be Cory Killoran, who is moving from Thornhill Elementary school.

Thornhill Junior's vice-principal Jane Arbuckle will be taking over the principal role at the school.

Alison Campbell will be the new principal for Thornhill Primary, and Pam Kawinsky will be the new principal of Suwilaawks Community school.

The district has also hired current Skeena principal Dave Bartley as the director of instruction, learner support, and current Suwilaawks principal Karen Scales as district principal, learner support.

District First Nations principal Cheryl Sebastian has had her position title changed to Director of Instruction, Aboriginal Education.

Wells explained these are only preliminary appointments and there will be more changes to come for the  2011/2012 school year.

Wells said complete information on the remaining positions, as well as more information regarding all involved, will be released at the June 22 school board meeting.
