BC Transit is is making some changes to transit routes in the Terrace regional transit system effective June 27.

The changes are to help provide clarity for commuters planning trips between neighbouring regional transit systems, as there are currently duplicate route numbers.

While this has not been an issue to this point, with the introduction of the new NextRide automatic vehicle location technology being installed on buses throughout the province, BC Transit said renumbering of some routes is necessary to help minimize confusion for people making connections with nearby transit systems.

The local Terrace and Thornhill routes are being renumbered. There will be a new route, 44 Northside, which will provide afterschool service, a service previously provided by route 2.

The existing route 2 – now the 42 City Shuttle – will provide regular service to the Tuck Seniors Residence throughout the day. Route names will not be changed, only route numbers.

The 1 College/Halliwell rout is changing to 41 College/Halliwell. The 2 City Shuttle is changing to 42 City Shuttle. 3 Southside is changing to 43 Southside, 5 Thornhill becomes 45 Thornhill, 6 College Express becomes 46 College Express.

You can pick up a new rider’s guide for all route renumbering details. To check for alerts regularly and to sign up for route-specific email notifications you can visit https://www.bctransit.com/terrace/schedules-and-maps.

Commuters should look for temporary signage at bus stops until permanent signage is installed.
