Any future public hearing for zoning amendments to the land which would be the site of a large scale development called Eliza’s Village in Thornhill have been cancelled.

The Regional District of Kitimat-Stikine received a request from the property owner of 3446 Edlund Ave. to withdraw the Official Community Plan and Zoning Amendment Application.

As a result, there will be no public hearing and the applicant will receive a 25 per cent refund of the application fee as per the Development Procedures Bylaw.

The developer, Enterprise4Good (E4G), had a conditional agreement to purchase 37 acres of private land at the site of the old Thornhill nursery, pending zoning amendments required for phase one of the large “village style development.”

Sept. 30 was earmarked as the date for the public hearing, but the date came and passed without a hearing as the regional district awaited documents.

No new information can be submitted after a public hearing, and RDKS staff required Enterprise4Good (E4G) to submit multiple reports and plans before a public hearing would have taken place.
