Various Terrace emergency services are teaming up to do an emergency vehicle procession through town this evening, Jan. 8, to show support for health care workers and other front-line workers.

Over 30 vehicles are expected to be in the procession, representing the Terrace and Thornhill fire departments, Terrace RCMP, the ambulance service, the Department of Fisheries of Oceans, the Terrace Sherriff’s Office and others.

The procession will begin near Mills Memorial Hospital at 5 p.m., proceeding across the Sande Overpass, north up Kalum St. to Terraceview Lodge, across the Bench, and south down Thomas St. and the Lanfear Dr. hill.

The City of Terrace is asking members of the public to avoid congregating at Mills Memorial Hospital or Terraceview Lodge, but the people are welcome to show support elsewhere along the procession route, by banging pots and pans when the emergency vehicles pass by or by finding their own way to show appreciation. The city is asking the public to be mindful of COVID-19 safety measures while showing support.
