Power restored in Terrace

The electrical outage lasted approximately 50 minutes

POWER HAS been restored to downtown Terrace after an outage at shortly after 2 pm affected more than 5,000 customers.

Lights went out completely after they began to flicker shortly after 2 pm. Power was restored at approximately 3 pm.

"It looks like it could be a high voltage line that brings power to the community," said BC Hydro official Dave Mosure of the situation.

He called the outage "a transmission circuit failure."

Crews were quickly dispatched to repair the problem.

Meanwhile, workers throughout the area have headed home and stores were locking their doors.

There were reports of traffic jams at intersections.
