Police seize snowboards

Officers believe items were to be traded for drugs

POLICE BELIEVE they have linked property seized during a routine traffic stop with a break and enter that occurred on Shames Mountain.

A traffic stop was conducted on Hwy 16 about 20km West of town at approximately 4 AM on January 25, 2012.

The car was found to be packed with some items that raised an eyebrow including 6 snow boards and several power tools. One of the power tools matched the description of an item stolen from Skeena Valley Fabrication. All of the property was seized for further investigation.

On January 26, Terrace RCMP received a report of a break and enter with theft from Shames Mountain that occurred during the night of January 25.

Several of the items reported missing were the items seized from the traffic stop on the night of January 25.

“We believe that he was en route to Prince Rupert to exchange the property for drugs, “ says Cst. Stu Egers of the Terrace RCMP.

Police are still investigating this matter.
