Police seek video after truck strikes Horseshoe home

Incident happened evening of Nov. 18

Terrace RCMP are looking for any video that would help them identify the truck that struck the garage area of a house on the corner of Tuck and Munroe in the Horseshoe late in the evening of Nov. 18.

Home owner Denise Olsson said her son had just come downstairs to the living room where she had fallen asleep in a chair while watching TV when something shook the house with a bang.

“A truck pushed a window right into the garage. It was head on,” Olsson said when she regained her composure and checked out the source of what shook the house. “It was a truck, a darker colour, with a lighter canopy.”

She was unable to get a fuller description, including a licence plate.

Olsson says whoever was driving had to steer the vehicle between two trees before striking the building.

The tracks to the building were straight with no sign of swerving or braking and there was no deviation from the straight track lines when the truck was backed out.

Olsson said a reconstruction company came quickly to the house to temporarily close off the area of the pushed in window and wall on both sides.

RCMP say the vehicle left the house at a high rate of speed, travelling north on Munroe Street and then turn east on McConnell Ave.

“The pickup is likely to have front end damage,” RCMP said in a release.

“Police are asking residents in the area of Munroe Street and McConnell Ave to check their surveillance cameras for the suspect vehicle (travelling north, then east) on November 18 around 10:50 p.m.,” the release added.
