Police nab at least nine drunk drivers during May long weekend

During the same time period, there were 42 people lodged in Terrace cells: 28 of these people were lodged for intoxication.

Here are some of the calls responded to:

Scam mail. A local business received two invoices from a company in Quebec for online advertising. The invoices were false.

Walmart Loss Prevention Officer arrested a woman for shoplifting. Checks determined that the woman was on probation with a condition of not to be within 50 metres of Walmart. Police arrested the 34-year-old woman. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Skeena Mall Security reported a theft from a business in the mall. Police located the thief a short distance away and arrested her for theft. The stolen items were recovered. Checks determined that the 36-year-old woman was in breach of a no consume alcohol condition stemming from a previous theft. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A 34-year-old woman in the area was also in breach of a condition of not to consume alcohol. She was arrested and charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A green 1998 Ford Windstar was pulled over on Kalum St./Park Ave. The 24-year-old driver was prohibited from driving. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A red 2004 Pontiac Grand Am was checked during a check stop on West Kalum Forest Service Road. The 41-year-old driver had a notice to serve a driving prohibition. Same done. The vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A red Dodge Ram was checked during a check stop on West Kalum Forest Service Road. An amount of marijuana was seized.

A white 2009 Honda Odyssey was pulled over on Lakelse Ave./Emerson St. The 33-year-old driver did not have a valid driver's licence and had a notice to serve a driving prohibition. The notice was served.

A red 2005 Pontiac Pursuit was pulled over in the rear alley behind the Best Western Hotel. The 18-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a reading. The driver had a Class 7 N driver's licence which has a restriction of zero alcohol. The driver was served in Immediate Licence Suspension.

Two calls were received of a motor vehicle incident on Crescent St./Rifle Range Road. A red 2013 Ford F-150 failed to navigate a bend in the road and continued off road left over an embankment. The driver fled the scene. Police received a call a short time after the incident from the registered owner reporting that his vehicle was stolen. Under investigation.

A man attempted to sell an item on Facebook to a buyer from Prince George. The deal did not go through. The potential buyer is now harassing the seller by continually messaging, texting, and contacting places of employment, causing concern for the seller. Under investigation.

A woman had another woman drive her home due to her level of intoxication. When she woke up the next morning, her vehicle was missing. Police located the blue 2005 Pontiac Sunfire on Haugland Ave./Medeek and arrested a 35-year-old woman for theft and also for assault on other matters.

Skeena Mall security arrested a man for shoplifting from a business. Police arrested the 41-year-old man. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

Noise complaint. A party had been going on for two days on First Ave. at Lakelse Lake. Police spoke with the resident.

A black 1995 Toyota truck was pulled over by police at the Hart Farm campsite. The 17-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a reading. He had a Class 7 N driver's licence with a restriction of zero alcohol level. The driver was also contrary to restrictions of limited number of passengers and display N.

A red 1998 Dodge Durango was pulled over during a check stop on Westside Rd./Hwy 37. The 21-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a reading. The driver had a Class 7 N licence with a restriction of zero alcohol. He was issued an Immediate Driving Suspension.

A black 2001 Toyota Tacoma was pulled over during a check stop on Westside Rd./Hwy 37. The 21-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition.

A white 2000 GMC Sierra truck was pulled over during a check stop on West Kalum Forest Service Road. Checks determined that the 48-year-old driver was prohibited. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. The vehicle was impounded.

Domestic dispute at Furlong Campground. A man was observed pulling a woman by her sweater. The man was assaulted by the woman. Threats were uttered. Under investigation.

A blue 2013 Honda Civic was pulled over during a check stop on Queensway Dr. The 23-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a warn. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition.

People yelling and screaming in the tennis courts on Kalum St./Paul Clark Dr. Police arrived to find intoxicated people everywhere. Most dispersed upon police arrival. Three men ages 38, 28, and 55, were arrested.

A red Dodge Ram was pulled over during a check stop on Queensway Dr. An amount of marijuana was seized.

A man called police to report that he was breaching a condition of his probation of not to consume alcohol. Police arrested an intoxicated 22-year-old man. He is held for court.

A 17-year-old boy swam across a section of the Skeena River from Fisherman's Park and was stranded on an island. Police requested the assistance of Search and Rescue who retrieved the boy. BC Ambulance transported the boy to Mills Memorial Hospital for assessment.

A red 2009 Ford truck was pulled over during a check stop at Old Lakelse Ave. at the Old Bridge. The 33-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a fail. He had a class 7 N driver's licence with a restriction of zero alcohol. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A brown 2002 Pontiac Grand Am was pulled over on Lakelse Ave. The 18-year-old driver provided a breath sample into a roadside screening device that resulted in a fail. She was transported to the detachment where she provided two samples of breath. She was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle she was driving was impounded.

A black 2013 Chevrolet Silverado was pulled over on Hwy 37 for going 115 km/hr in a 70 km/hr zone. The 33-year-old driver provided two samples of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in fails. He was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition and the vehicle he was driving was impounded.

A dirt bike incident in a back area off Westside Rd./Hwy 37 resulted in a 26-year-old man sustaining serious injuries. BC Ambulance transported the man to Mills Memorial Hospital.

Domestic disturbance. Police arrested a 44-year-old man for breaching conditions of a recognizance of no contact with a specific person, by consuming liquor, and out past his curfew. He was also in breach of a Peace Bond. The man is held for court.

A dirt bike incident off Beam Station Rd. resulted in a 29-year-old woman sustaining minor injuries. She was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital by BC Ambulance for assessment.

Threats were uttered to stab a person with a knife. Police arrested a 15-year-old boy. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.

A green 2002 Ford Focus was pulled over on Paquette Ave. The 19-year-old driver provided a sample of breath into a roadside screening device that resulted in a reading. The driver had a class 7 N licence with a restriction of zero alcohol. He was also contrary to the restriction of limited number of passengers. He was issued an Immediate Driving Suspension.

Vandalism to Furlong Bay. A group of intoxicated youth ripped a toilet paper holder of the wall and put it into a toilet, clogged another toilet full of garbage, and threw various debris at the walls.

Noise complaint, party on Molitor St. Police spoke to a resident.

Safeway employee arrested a man for shoplifting. Police arrested the 41-year-old man and charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel. He was arrested again less than 24 hours later for the same offence, same location. The 41-year-old man has been caught shoplifting four times in the last week and three times in the last 24 hours. He is held for court.

Alarm at Thornhill Junior Secondary. Police arrested two men, both 18, who were observed walking away from the school. Both were in possession of items taken from the school. Under investigation.

Domestic assault. A woman and a man sustained minor injuries. The 25-year-old man was arrested. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
