Party hearty but get home alive

Terrace RCMP urge drivers to take a safe way home after New Year's Eve parties so they won't end their year six feet under

NEW YEAR'S Eve parties and celebrations will be well underway tonight and Terrace RCMP are warning potential drivers to plan a safe way to get home afterward to avoid adding to the number of roadway fatalities this year.

"2013 has been a bad one," says Inspector Dana Hart of the Terrace RCMP Detachment.

"There have been 10 fatal collisions in the northwest, with alcohol believed to be involved in 70 per cent of them. Take a taxi, bus or ride with a designated sober driver."

RCMP officers will be out in full force throughout the holidays, conducting check stops and performing roaming vehicle stops all in an effort to deter impaired driving.
