Northwest highway warnings issued

If you do not need to travel today, then stay at home

TRAVEL ADVISORIES are being issued on northwestern road as a blizzard moves into the area.

An advisory cautioning those venturing west of Terrace on Hwy16 toward Prince Rupert issued at 8:30 this morning has now been followed by one for Hwy37 South from Terrace to Kitimat.

Although the weather is warming slightly, high winds are affecting visibility by blowing snow across roads. And up to 20 centimetres of snow is expected to fall between this morning and tomorrow morning.

Public school classes are cancelled throughout the area as well but the school buildings are open and staffed by administrators and teachers.
