New lights in downtown core

Ten new street lamps were installed along the Lakelse Ave. shopping district.

The Lakelse Ave. shopping district just got a little brighter.

Ten new street lamps were installed by the city and each light source will illuminate colours truer to their daylight tones said Pat Orrey, Terrace city’s building and electricity foreman.

The total project price tag was $20,000 paid by the city.

Before, there were only eight lamps on the street, meaning two more were added. Some of the locations were moved too to better reflect the street’s developments said Orrey.

“The [old] ones were over 30 years old,” he said.

Each new lamp has a photo cell within it that senses darkness and triggers the lights to turn on, he said.
