Family and friends are asking for help to find John Klukas, who was last seen when he left his house in Old Remo at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 5, intending to visit his mother in Kleanza.

Klukas didn’t make it home to Old Remo where he lives with his brother, and has not been in contact with his family since, which his sister Heidi Davis said is uncharacteristic of him.

Klukas is described as a 5’10 tall 64-year-old Caucasian man with greying hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a blue jacket, jeans, a dress shirt and most likely dress shoes when he left home.

Davis said her brother’s car, a grey Toyota Corolla, was found stuck on North Copper Logging Road. Terrace Search and Rescue tracked his course as far as Highway 16 in Thornhill where the trail ended next to Azorcan.

He had a package of cigarettes when he left his home and Terrace Search and Rescue were able to track him through a trail of cigarette butts. Davis said people in Terrace and Thornhill might recognize him from having seen him walking around and smoking, a regular habit of his.

Klukas is without his medication and could have been in a confused state while trying to walk home in the dark after his car got stuck. RCMP said efforts to locate him have been so far unsuccessful and police are continuing to investigate. The family is now also seeking help from the public.

If you have any information about John Klukas, or where he might be, please contact the Terrace RCMP at 250-638-7400 or contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
