Prince George RCMP say an increase in gun violence and recent firearms theft is concerning as officers investigate the city’s second homicide of the year.

RCMP received a report of shots fired in the 800-block of Victoria Street around 11 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 13) where they found a male victim who had died of his injuries. RCMP is still on scene Wednesday morning as officers investigate the latest homicide.

Police say the shooting is targeted.

“The increase in gun violence in Prince George, along with the recent theft of firearms from a gas station, is concerning and our police officers are working tirelessly to apprehend those who are responsible for these crimes,” Corp. Jennifer Cooper said.

Cooper said investigators are now looking for dash-camera, cellphone or video surveillance footage from the area between 10:45 and 11:35 p.m. Anyone who witness the shooting – and hasn’t spoken to police – is asked to call Prince George RCMP’s non-emergency line at 250-561-3300.
