OFFICIALS are now planning controlled openings of Hwy37 North just south of the Yukon border.

It's been closed since Wednesday thanks to the sudden surge of a forest fire which crossed the highway north of Good Hope Lake.

"Temporary openings with pilot cars are planned between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm daily, and may be cancelled or extended, subject to fire behaviour," state transportation ministry officials.

"Travellers should be preparted to wait with adequate fuel and supplies."

In the meantime, approximately 100 fire fighters and other forest service personnel are being sent to fight the Tisigar Lake fire. As of last night, it was estimated at 6,000 hectares in size.
