HERE"S SOME of the incidents that kept police busy during the weekend:
Terrace RCMP have responded to a total of 157 calls from April 26, 8 a.m. to April 30, 8 a.m. Eight of these calls were for false alarms / 911 calls.
During the same time period a total of 40 people were lodged in cells. Thirty of these were for public intoxication.
Police responded to a call of a man on the outside of the rails on the new Skeena Bridge on Hwy 16. The 20-year-old man complied with police direction and he was apprehended under the Mental Health Act. He was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital.
A 10-year-old reported to his parent that a group of people were “smoking up” in a vehicle parked on Olson Ave. Police located the green 1995 Ford Escort. Two 19-year-old men and an 18-year-old man admitted to smoking marijuana in the vehicle and called the uninsured vehicle a place to hang out.
Police pulled over a grey 2007 Ford Fusion after observing it drive in and out of back roads near the Best Western Inn. The driver was issued a 24 hour suspension for being impaired by drug and the vehicle was impounded.
A 21-year-old man was jumped and beaten up by four men on Scott Ave / Kalum St. BC Ambulance transported the man to Mills Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries to his face and head. The man was uncooperative with police.
A child threw a pedal bike in front of a bus on Agar Ave. Then the child and other jumped into a vehicle and took off. The bus sustained minor damage when it drove over the pedal bike.
A red 2012 Ford Escape driven by a 60-year-old man drove into a red 2008 GMC Sierra parked on Lazelle Ave. Both vehicles suffered significant damage.
Police attended to a residence on Heppel Ave. on the report of two woman fighting with edged weapons. Nobody would answer the door. Police forcibly entered the residence to ensure public safety. The complaint was determined to be unsubstantiated. A 30-year-old man inside of the residence was arrested for breaching his undetaking condition of not to consume alcohol.
A group of youths were observed near the fairgrounds. Upon approaching the group, one of the boys hid a container. The 13-year-old boy admitted to having marijuana and turned it over to police. He was arrested for possession of marijuana and released to his parent.
A group of youths were observed near the fairgrounds. Upon approaching the group, marijuana could be smelled by police. A 17-year-old girl was found in possession of marijuana and was banned from the fairgrounds for the weekend.
Police observed a boy at the Terrace Fairgrounds that appeared to be under the influence of a drug. The 17-year-old boy admitted to consuming psilocybin and drinking alcohol. An amount of psilocybin and a half a bottle of whiskey was seized from is person. He was arrested and released to his parent.
A 42-year-old man was detained by staff at Safeway for shoplifting a package of tampons. He was turned over to police. The man was intoxicated and on conditions to obtains from the consumption of alcohol. Police arrested him for breaching his conditions. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A cab driver was pepper sprayed by two youth on bikes near the fairgrounds. BC Ambulance attended to treat the cab driver.
A group of youths were observed near the fairgrounds. Police spoke with the group. An 18-year-old woman turned over to police an amount of cocaine.
A red 2007 Ford Focus was checked on Sande Overpass / Keith Ave. The 34-year-old driver was arrested for driving impaired. She provided two samples of breath in excess of double the legal limit. The vehicle she was driving was impounded. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A blue 2012 Ford Focus was checked on Desjardins St. The 39-year-old driver was arrested for driving impaired. He provided two samples of breath approaching triple the legal limit. The vehicle he was driving was impounded. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A concerned citizen reported smelling marijuana near parked vehicles at the fairground. Police located the vehicle where the smell was coming from. A 56-year-old man admitted to smoking marijuana and drinking beer while waiting for his son who was in the carnival. Police seized the drugs.
A silver 2008 Chevrolet Silverado was checked on Queensway Dr / Old Highway 16. The 22-year-old driver was arrested for impaired driving. He provided two samples of breath over the legal limit. The vehicle he was driving was impounded. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
A 39-year-old woman was arrested for assault in a domestic dispute. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
