Crews are conducting avalanche control, causing the closure of the highway from 12 kilometres east of Stewart to 13 kilometres west of Meziadin in both directions — a stretch of nearly 34 kilometres.

According to a 12:30 p.m. DriveBC updated notice, the closure is expected to last until 3:30 p.m. with an update to come at that time. The notice said that drivers should expect major delays due to congestion, and reminds people to drive safely and watch out for emergency crews.
