Houston goes on evacuation alert

Due to significant rise in the Buck Creek, the District of Houston has expanded the evacuation alert area. The new expanded Evacuation Alert are includes all properties from Sullivan Motors to Avalon Subdivision and from bottom of Mountainview Hill to the Bulkley River

Due to significant rise in the Buck Creek, the District of Houston has expanded the evacuation alert area. The new expanded Evacuation Alert are includes all properties from Sullivan Motors to Avalon Subdivision and from bottom of Mountainview Hill to the Bulkley River.

Specifically this includes: · All North Side Area residences · Houston Industrial Site · East Valley Area including East Valley road from #3614 to #3811, Avalon avenue and Dominion avenue · The downtown area including all areas from Copeland avenue to Butler Avenue; from 9th street to 17th Street; 11th street from Copeland ave to Avalon ave; 15th St from Poulton to end; Cataline court; Butler place; Ambassador Mobile Home Park; Houston Mobile Home Park · Riverbank Drive area including, Duke Ave; Winter Ave; Riverbank drive; Poplar street from #3740 to #3865; Harvie road; Haftner road · The Health Centre and Library area including 13th street W; 14th street W; 15th street W; Law avenue; Tweedie avenue · Hamblin Frontage road area including Nadina avenue; Kanata avenue; Caledonia avenue and Hamblin Frontage road · Highway 16 from Sullivan Motors to East overpass.

Residents are being asked to prepare for an evacuation order by locating all family members or co-workers and plan to meet at the reception centre outside the evacuation area, should an evacuation be called while separated.

Residents are also being advised to gather essential items such as medications, eyeglasses, valuable papers (i.e. insurance), immediate care needs for dependents and, if they choose, keepsakes (photographs, etc).
