Temperatures could reach 32 C as a heat wave rolls into Kitimat and Terrace.

From today (July 25) until Saturday (July 30) daytime temperatures in the area are expected to be between 30 C to 32 C, with early morning lows between 15 C to 17 C.

Peak daytime high temperatures are expected from Wednesday until Friday as a strong ridge of high pressure will bring a heat wave.

Extreme heat poses the greatest risk for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.

According to Environment Canada, they expect an increase in health and safety risks from heat and are advising the public to take precautions.

Temperatures are expected to fall again by next week.
