Five in the running for six council seats

Two city councillors filed nomination papers today making official their intent to re-run this coming election.

Two city councillors filed nomination papers today making official their intent to re-run this coming election.

Councillors Bruce Bidgood and Lynne Christiansen both filed papers with the city today two days shy of Friday's 4 p.m. deadline.

Councillor Brian Downie filed papers last week.

In all, five people have filed nomination papers including Stacey Tyers, a local poverty activist and Mike Ross, a retired Canadian Forces communications specialist.

There are six city councillor seats to be filled, and three current councillors won't be running again for seats.

Brad Pollard and Carol Leclerc have both announced they won't be submitting papers.

Councillor Bruce Martindale has announced he will be running for mayor and has started campaigning although he has yet to file nomination papers.
