The Terrace Fire Department responded to a fire at Skeena Sawmills on Wednesday morning (July 27).
The fire broke out in one of the Skeena Sawmills loaders, the fire department confirmed. Smoke was visible from across the city by around 9:30 a.m. and the fire was later extinguished.
There were no reported injuries and the cause is still being investigated, hot weather is thought to be a contributing factor.
The 980 wheel loader was destroyed and the loss of this machine is not expected to impact mill operations.
