Terrace figure skaters capture medals and ribbons at Prince Rupert competition

The Terrace Figure Skating Club contingent that went to a large competition in Prince Rupert Dec. 2 to Dec. 4.

Figure skaters from the Terrace Skating Club came away with medals and a good showing at the Dec. 2 to Dec. 4 Kla How Ya competition held in Prince Rupert Dec. 2 to Dec. 4.

“This was the first competition for some of our figure skaters and the second in person competition in the northwest since Covid halted in-person events,” said club skating director Joanne Bartlett.

Kla How Ya means ‘hello’ in the Chinook trading language that connected the diverse peoples of the northwestern portion of North America.

The locals were up against skaters from host city Prince Rupert, Kitimat, Smithers, northeastern B.C. and south to Quesnel.

Here are the results for the local skaters:

Aaliyah Beeton - 2 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal

Teysean Henry - 3 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal

Emily Larmour - 1 Silver Medal and 1 Bronze Medal

Kally Mackenzie - 2 Gold Medals and 1 Silver Medal

Kayeanna Mackenzie - 2 Silver Medals and 1 Bronze Medal

Hannah Thomson - 1 Gold Medal and 1 Bronze Medal

Halle Correia - 2 Silver Ribbons

Layla Hanes - 2 Silver Ribbons and 1 Bronze Ribbon

Kate Kharchenko - 1 Gold Medal and 2 Silver Ribbons

Jacob Liubomudrov - 3 Silver Ribbons

Anabelle Ruchotzke - 1 Silver Medal, 1 Gold Ribbon and 1 Silver Ribbon

Jaliyah Tadiaman - 1 Gold Ribbon and 1 Silver Ribbon

Aaliyah Tait-Ross - 1 Gold Ribbon, 1 Silver Ribbon and 1 Bronze Ribbon
