Ferry Island day use is closed until further notice and new camping reservations are not being accepted due to flooding, according to a City of Terrace news bulletin.

The campsite contractor has alerted current campsite users that they need to be prepared to be evacuated if need arises. Campers have also been asked to not leave the campsite area and stay away from the trails.

The city has installed barricades and signage at both Ferry Island and Fisherman’s Park, which is also closed due to rising water levels.

The Skeena River is currently under a High Streamflow Advisory. According to the advisory, snowpack in the area was above normal with snow still remaining at some automated snow weather stations. Continuing snow melt and rain is increasing flows in the Skeena and Bulkley rivers.
