A WOMAN faces charges for impaired driving causing death after a pedestrian was killed in Gitwangak.

A Chevrolet pickup, with a driver and four passengers hit a pedestrian while travelling east on West Kitwanga Road in Gitwangak at 2:53 a.m. Jan. 28, reported New Hazelton RCMP in a press release.

The male pedestrian was confirmed dead at the scene, said police.

The 34-year-old female driver was remanded into custody, the police release continue.

The Criminal Crash Investigation Team assisted RCMP with securing the scene for reconstruction, said police.

Police continue to investigate and ask anyone with information to call Const. Hugo or Sgt. Pelley at the New Hazelton RCMP detachment at 250-842-5244.
